Who you are dealing with

Lexy — the Mac app, its server and this website — is made by Required Technology OÜ, a company registered in Estonia at Kaupmehe tn 12-15, Kesklinna linnaosa, 10114 Tallinn, Harju maakond (“we”). These terms are the agreement between you and us. By installing or using Lexy, you agree to them; if you don’t, please don’t use it.

Free and Pro

Lexy is free for your first 100 saved words, across all your languages together, with every feature and every language. Past 100, lookups still translate, but a new word isn’t saved. Lexy Pro removes that limit and changes nothing else.

Pro is a subscription, billed yearly or monthly. You buy it from Lexy’s Settings while signed in, and it belongs to that account, on every Mac on it.

Paying

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle takes the payment, charges the right sales tax or VAT for where you are, sends the receipts and handles refunds. Its buyer terms apply to the purchase itself.

• The price is the one shown at checkout, including any tax, before you pay.
• It renews on its own at the end of each year or month, at the same price, charged to the same payment method, until you cancel.
• If the price changes, we email you before your next renewal, and the new price applies from that renewal. Cancel before it if you don’t want it.
• If a renewal fails, Pro stays on while Paddle retries the payment. If Paddle gives up, the subscription ends and your account returns to free.

Cancelling, and what you keep

Cancel any time from Lexy’s Settings with Manage, which opens Paddle’s customer portal, or through the link in any Paddle receipt. Pro stays on until the end of the period you have paid for, and nothing renews after it.

When Pro ends, for any reason, nothing is held back. Every word you saved stays yours, with its sentences and its practice history, and stays visible on every Mac. You just can’t save new words beyond the free 100 until you subscribe again.

Delete Everything in Settings is different: it deletes the account, and so it cancels a running subscription straight away, before deleting anything. Refunds are covered by the refund policy.

Using Lexy fairly

You agree not to:

• use Lexy for anything unlawful, fraudulent or abusive, or to send spam;
• infringe anyone’s intellectual property through it;
• interfere with its security: no malware, probing, scraping, reverse engineering of the server, or automated requests outside the app;
• use it to translate in bulk for others, or resell access to it.

What’s ours and what’s yours

We own Lexy: the app, the server, this website, the name and the design. Using it gives you a personal right to use it, nothing more. Your words and sentences are yours; we hold them only to run the app, as the privacy page describes.

No guarantees

Translations are produced automatically and can be wrong. Lexy is for learning, not for legal, medical or other text where a mistake costs something. We work to keep Lexy running, but we can’t promise it will be uninterrupted or free of errors.

As far as the law allows, our liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits a right you have as a consumer that the law says can’t be limited.

Suspension and ending

We may suspend or close an account for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, for non-payment, or where it puts Lexy’s security or other people at risk. Where we can, we tell you first and give you the chance to put it right. You can stop at any time, and Delete Everything removes your account.

Changes, law and contact

If these terms change in a way that matters, we say so here before the change applies, and email you if you pay for Pro. The terms are governed by Estonian law, without taking away the protection of the consumer law where you live.
